The Family & Farm
What began as a desire to break away from the traditional path and build a more intentional, self-sustaining life has grown into something we couldn't have fully planned for — a homestead rooted in faith, held together by family, and built one season at a time.
After stepping away from office careers, our family built The Roost from the ground up with the goal of living more simply, working together, and becoming increasingly self-sufficient. Our children are deeply involved in daily homestead life — they're the egg search party, the chick wranglers, and the reason this life keeps getting better. They even operate their own venture, Hoot & Holler Bunny Biz, raising dual purpose breeding rabbits with the kind of care and dedication that makes a parent proud.
The farm is home to English Orpingtons, Coturnix quail, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, and over the years has been home to sheep and pigs as well. Keeping watch over all of it are our Standard Poodles, and one cat named Eden who arrived unexpectedly one winter and quietly decided she belonged here.
Life at The Roost is equal parts beautiful, muddy, exhausting, rewarding, and deeply loved. This is where our family's story continues to unfold — one season at a time.
