Chicks & Hatching Eggs

Our hatching eggs and chicks come from carefully selected breeding flocks raised here at The Roost Homestead in Missouri. We place a strong emphasis on temperament, health, flock happiness, and overall confirmation, striving to raise birds that are not only beautiful, but well-suited for family homesteads and backyard flocks alike.

Our birds are raised with plenty of space to roam, fresh air, hands-on care, and attention to their overall wellbeing. We intentionally select breeding pairs with the goal of producing healthy, friendly, and visually remarkable birds that reflect the qualities we value most in our own flocks.

English Orpingtons

English Orpingtons quickly became the heart of our homestead because of their calm temperaments and remarkable beauty. Known for their full feathering, large size, and soft “floofy” appearance, they bring both elegance and practicality to the flock. We love their friendly nature around families and children, their strong maternal instincts, and their hardiness. Whether admired for their stunning colors or valued as dependable dual-purpose birds, English Orpingtons are everybody's favorite!

Rainbow Eggers

These eggs are collected from colored egger hens crossed with our English Orpington roosters. While English Orpingtons carry light brown egg genetics, they also contribute size, hardiness, and calm temperaments to many colored egger lines. Depending on the pairing, first-generation offspring often produce beautiful soft blue, green, olive, and pastel-toned eggs.

Jumbo Coturnix Quail

Our Jumbo Coturnix Quail are one of our favorite additions to the homestead because of their quick growth, beautiful variety of colors, and practical sustainability. These hardy little birds mature quickly, begin laying at a young age, and are well-suited for both egg and meat production, making them a wonderful option for families interested in small-scale homesteading. Despite their size, they require relatively little space and are a fun, approachable introduction to raising poultry.
